Linebacker

Commitments

Spencer Lytle- Bellflower, CA (St. John Bosco)

Leo Chenal- Grantsburg, WI (Grantsburg)

Other current targets

Jared Casey- Louisville, KY (Ballard)

Nick Jackson- Atlanta, GA (Lovett School)

Wisconsin appears poised to continue its recent run of talented linebackers in the coming years, as the staff secured commitments from two impressive talents in Leo Chenal and Spencer Lytle.

Chenal was the first commitment of Wisconsin’s 2019 class way back in September of 2017. At the time his only other offer was from South Dakota State, but he had many more coming his way if he had kept his recruitment open. Chenal is a special athlete who is a dominating force at both running back and linebacker for Grantsburg. Wisconsin has had a ton of success with in-state linebackers and he could be next in line.

Lytle was a big-time get for Wisconsin. It’s not every day that you see the Badgers snatch a recruit away from a national power like Clemson, who was the other finalist for his services. The rest of his offer list should give you a good idea of the talent this kid possesses, as he was pursued by the likes of Auburn, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Another linebacker will probably be added to the class. New names could emerge, but two offered recruits to monitor at the moment are Jared Casey and Nick Jackson, both high 3-star prospects.

Jackson was offered back in July shortly after his appearance at The Opening Finals, an elite showcase for recruits. Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Virginia are trending for him right now.

Casey appears to be the more likely of the two to end up a Badger. He was just offered by Wisconsin last Friday and already has an official visit lined up for the weekend of the Nebraska game. His hometown school Louisville, along with Oregon and Kentucky, are in the mix as well, but Badger fans should be encouraged that Casey already appears to have a strong interest in Wisconsin. The evening matchup with the Huskers at Camp Randall is sure to be a raucous atmosphere and hopefully will blow him away.
