MADISON, WI – OCTOBER 21: T.J. Edwards (Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images)

8. ILB T.J. Edwards

Edwards hasn’t made a ton of noise this season, which is why he’s lower on this list than Badger fans might expect. But he’s still one of the most talented players on the roster.

Edwards is the anchor that keeps Wisconsin’s defense sound. When the defense is bending, Edwards is there to make sure it doesn’t break. And whenever there’s a chance to make a play, you better believe the All-American is going to make it.

Edwards is fourth on the team in total tackles and has 3.5 tackles for loss, good for second on the roster, plus an interception. That interception couldn’t have come at a better time either. After Alex Hornibrook led the Badgers down for a score to take the lead in Iowa last weekend, the Hawkeyes needed a touchdown of their own to reclaim the lead and secure the win.

When an errant pass wobbled in the air off an Iowa receiver’s fingers, Edwards was in the right place at the right time to secure the turnover and lock in the victory for the Badgers. Sure, catching a tipped pass might be lucky, but it’s no surprise that Edwards was the one to take advantage of it.

As long as Edwards is on the field fans can rest easy knowing the defense will be fine and all of the necessary plays will be made.
