Wisconsin football will be hosting four-star linebacker Jared Casey this weekend on an official visit.
The Wisconsin football coaching staff got into the mix late with Kyle Ford this past weekend, but before Ford’s offer was another unusually late offer to a linebacker out of Kentucky.
Jared Casey, who recently received a bump in his 247 ratings and is now a four-star recruit, is visiting Madison this weekend.
What’s more, Casey announced on Twitter that he will be making his announcement very soon after his official visit with the Badgers. This can be either very good or very not-so-good news for the Badgers.
The end of Casey’s recruiting cycle is coming to a very fast and sudden end. He was long thought to be headed to Louisville, which was fitting. Casey’s hometown is Lousiville, Kentucky. He announced his final four of Oregon, Lousiville, Kentucky, and Wisconsin on September 28th via Twitter and Oregon has become more and more likely since then. He visited the Ducks on September 22nd, and he visited Kentucky on September 28th.
If one thing is for sure, it’s that it seems like Louisville is out of the picture. Oregon is the favorite after its meteoric rise but Wisconsin is the dark horse that has the chance to turn everything on its head. The Badgers will have the final say with Casey before he announces on October 11th where he’ll be playing his college football. The only question is: Has he already made up his mind?
Wisconsin has had incredible success with visits this recruiting cycle. This weekend, Casey is going to witness a raucous Camp Randall crowd under the lights and be in the company of Spencer Lytle, a linebacker commit from California. There is also word that Graham Mertz and Hayden Rucci will be in Madison this weekend too. If Casey has already decided he’s going to Oregon and wants to take one final visit just for the sake of it, Wisconsin isn’t going to let him get away without making him first seriously consider the Badgers.
Wisconsin football fans should remain very cautious with any optimism. The storyline is written in a way up to this point where a commitment to Wisconsin wouldn’t be totally shocking, but Mario Cristobal is one of the best recruiters in the country at Oregon. It would be very uncharacteristic of him to lose out on Casey this late in the game.
