Corey Clement

Philadelphia Eagles – RB

The NFL is becoming more of a passing league every year. The days of investing heavily into a three-down running back are almost completely behind us opening the door for specialists like Clement to come in and steal the show.

NFL teams often carry 3-4 running backs anyway, so why not use all of them? Clement is part of a committee in Philadelphia that includes Jay Ajayi, Wendell Smallwood, and Darren Sproles. And since Ajayi is now on the IR with a torn ACL, Clement’s number will be called much more moving forward.

Clement currently has the second most rushing attempts on the team and the second most catches of running backs. He was on pace to put up similar rushing numbers to last season, but those will likely increase, and he is already about to eclipse his receiving totals from last season. For an undrafted free agent, Clement has found a pretty solid home with the Eagles. Not to mention he’s already a Super Bowl champion.

Clement’s time at Wisconsin was very up and down. He was in line to be the feature back his junior year before an injury sidelined him after four games. When he was healthy for his senior year, he bounced back to rush for over 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns. When he was facing the uphill battle of earning a roster spot as an undrafted rookie, he was prepared for the challenge. There isn’t much I would say Clement can’t accomplish.

With more opportunities now due to the unfortunate injury to Ajayi, Clement will make the most of his chances and put up solid numbers.
