Paul Chryst

The first coach on this list is Chryst, who took what Gordon gave him and continued to build it up. Chryst inherited a program that many weren’t sure could continue its successes. He showed that Wisconsin is a true powerhouse program in college football and has done his job extraordinarily well.

Chryst has gone to a bowl game (and won) and had the Badgers ranked in every year he’s been in Madison. Despite this year’s struggles, the Badgers are still going bowling and have a chance to finish 9-4. With everything that has happened this year, that will be seen as a great success. There’s a lot of work still to do and I’ve been critical of Chryst’s offense lately, but it’s hard to imagine anybody else doing a better job with what he’s been dealt this year.

Chryst is a former Badger and therefore is somebody who fans can trust will give the extra effort in everything he does. He embodies the spirit and culture the Wisconsin football program brings to the field every weekend and he’s making sure every new Badger he brings in does the same thing.

There are very few programs in the country that have a coach that fits their program as well as Chryst fits Wisconsin. He might not be flashy, or recruit 5-star athletes, or pound the table at press conferences with funny quotes that will end up going viral, but he’s Wisconsin’s coach.
