Defensive Line

Defensive Tackle – Branard Wright

Carter (Dallas, TX) defensive tackle Branard Wright picked up a Wisconsin offer a couple of weeks ago. The 6’3, 294-pound junior is an elite prospect in the class, currently sitting at No. 5 at his position and No. 64 overall nationally.

The Badgers are very late to the party here. Wright already has a huge offer list consisting of the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Texas A&M, among others.

I hate to start off this post in bleak fashion, but I’d give Wisconsin about a .01% chance of coming out on top here. That being said, there’s certainly no harm in shooting your shot in the off chance you hit the mark!

Defensive End – Aaron Lewis

Williamstown (Williamstown, NJ) defensive lineman Aaron Lewis announced an offer from Wisconsin via Twitter last Tuesday.

A 3-star prospect, Lewis is currently the No. 581 overall player in the class, but before all is said and done, I think he could end up far higher than that in the rankings. His recruitment has really taken off recently after an outstanding junior season in which he was named the South Jersey Defensive Player of the Year, with offers from Baylor, Boston College, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, and West Virginia all flowing in over the course of the fall. Lewis did not have any offers prior to September.

I would expect that offer list to really blow up soon given this kid’s tools. You can’t teach size, and Lewis has that in abundance with a 6’6, 235-pound frame. He plays on the interior of the line quite a bit for Williamstown, but he looks the part of a college strong-side defensive end. A powerful run-stopper, there isn’t a program in the country that couldn’t use a player like this on their defensive line.

With Penn State already in the mix and more recruiting powerhouses likely to follow suit, this will be an uphill climb for the Badgers.
