Running Back

Marshawn Lloyd

On November 29, Wisconsin extended an offer to 5-star running back MarShawn Lloyd out of powerhouse DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Lloyd is the No. 4 running back and No. 24 overall player in the country, and as you would expect, his current collection of offers is large and very impressive. It includes Ohio State and Penn State, which appear to be two of the leaders in his recruitment at the moment along with in-state school Maryland, as well as Alabama, Boston College, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Texas, USC, and Virginia Tech.

It really isn’t even worth looking too much into this offer. The Badgers have only landed one 5-star player in the last ten years, that player being offensive tackle Logan Brown, the crown jewel of Wisconsin’s incoming class. Wisconsin certainly offers an attractive destination for running backs with its consistently massive offensive line, but it is hard to imagine the Badgers finding a way to beat out the likes of Ohio State, Penn State, and Alabama for this kid. Also, Maryland will be very dangerous here under new head coach Mike Locksley, a dynamic recruiter who played a major role in helping Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide compile top classes in the last few recruiting cycles.

This is one of those offers the staff just throws out to an elite prospect and hope it somehow sticks.
