Beat Marquette and get the Ax back

We don’t know when it will be, but we know the Badgers will get Marquette next basketball season at the Kohl Center. We have to wait until next season, but that game will take place in 2019. And the Badgers need to win it.

Marquette’s roster is a solid one this year, and none of the leading scorers are seniors. While Wisconsin should be a good team again next season, it’s possible the Badgers are the underdog in the home matchup. Still, the losing streak to Marquette has to stop. That would be a great win in the non-conference for an Ethan Happ-less team.

Even worse than losing to Marquette is losing to Minnesota in football. The Badgers won’t get the Gophers at home next season, but they’ll still be the far superior team and should be able to rebound much easier than the basketball team. The Minnesota football program will hold that Ax over Wisconsin’s head all year. The Badgers can’t let them keep it.

Beating these two rivals would bring a lot of bragging rights back to Madison, which is always good to have, for the 2019 calendar year. Winning big doesn’t mean as much when you can’t beat your rivals. The good news for Wisconsin is these are both attainable. The bad news is we have to wait several months for this wish to come true.
