Get Graham Mertz on the field

It’s almost impossible to be on the side of not wanting Graham Mertz to play as a true freshman. He’s talented enough, so that won’t be the battle. He showed what he can do in the All-American Bowl setting a record by throwing for five touchdown passes. Instead, it’ll be about principle, which is perhaps better known as pride.

Starting a true freshman at quarterback isn’t the ‘Wisconsin Way’ so it just may not happen. But like I said, that’s more about principle and pride than anything else. Mertz is good enough so he deserves a chance.

Seeing Mertz on the field next season would do a lot for the spirit of the fan base. The entire state is drooling over his highlights and recruiting rankings. It’s only right for Paul Chryst to find a way to show him off for the fans.

Not only will the fans love Mertz because he’s so great at football, but he just might give the Badgers the best chance to win big in 2019. Why wait? Get Graham Mertz on the field as soon as possible. He’s already enrolling early to give himself the best chance to compete for the starting job.
