#5 – Cam Large

Position: Tight End

Hometown: Dedham, MA

Rankings: 3-star (No. 514 overall, No. 15 TE)

Other offers: Duke, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Boston College, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Syracuse, TCU, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, among others

Given the current lack of depth in the tight end room at the moment, Wisconsin could really use a big-time get at the position in the 2020 class.

The Badgers do currently have a potential star at the position in Jake Ferguson, a rock-solid blocker in Luke Benzschawel, and two exciting freshman prospects arriving in the summer in Clay Cundiff and Hayden Rucci. However, Ferguson is a legitimate pro prospect, and it would not be shocking to see him leave school if he has a big year in 2019. Additionally, Benzschawel will be a senior in 2020, and we don’t yet know what we have in Cundiff and Rucci. Given this and taking into account how much the Badgers like to use their tight ends in the offense, and there’s a pretty obvious need to add another body or two from the 2020 recruiting class.

There aren’t too many better tight ends prospects than Cam Large in that group.

The 6’5, 232-pounder from Massachusetts is one of the most coveted players at his position in the nation and currently boasts offers from most of college football’s top programs, with SEC powers Alabama and Georgia the latest to get involved.

Given his ridiculous offer list, is it likely that Large is a Badger at the end of the day? Probably not. However, Wisconsin is still a factor in this recruitment, and time and time again, summer official visits to Madison have worked wonders for the Badgers on the recruiting trail. They will get that chance to impress Large, as he will be on campus for an official the weekend of June 14.
