#4 – Nick Herbig

Position: Outside Linebacker

Hometown: Honolulu, HI

Rankings: 4-star (No. 263 overall, No. 19 OLB)

Other offers: Washington, California, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Boise State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Tennessee, Utah, Vanderbilt, and Virginia, among others

Wisconsin already has one commitment from an outside linebacker recruit with high upside in Cole Dakovich (Waukesha, WI), and the Badgers have a great shot to land another with 4-star Hawaii native Nick Herbig, who is slated to make his first visit to Madison on June 7. Wisconsin and Washington are currently viewed as the favorites for the standout from prep powerhouse St. Louis School in Honolulu.

A well-rounded outside linebacker that’s fully capable of both rushing the passer and reliably dropping back in coverage, Herbig looks like a guy who could play early and often for the Badgers from the beginning of his career, with the upside to develop into a second or third round NFL draft choice, according to 247Sports recruiting analyst Blair Angulo. Given the success Wisconsin has had at sending linebackers to the NFL in recent years, Herbig likely understands that there are few programs across the country that are more likely to help him achieve his goals.

With no known additional visits set up following his trip to Madison in a couple of weeks, the Badgers will be looking to lock up a commitment from Herbig that weekend. By all accounts, Wisconsin fans should feel pretty optimistic that they will be getting a couple of solid bookends at outside linebacker in this 2020 class with Herbig and Dakovich.
