Special Teams
Wisconsin
In the special teams department, Wisconsin football will have a new face at the kicker position after longtime fan-favorite Rafael Gaglianone graduated. This year Collin Larsh will handle the field goal duties.
Anthony Lotti will be back to punt the ball for the Badgers. Last season he had a bit of a tough year. He appeared in just 8 games and punted for an average of 38.6 yards, which would have him ranked 116th out of 125 punters if he qualified.
Like last year, Jack Dunn will handle the punt returning duties. Last season, Dunn returned 17 punts for 94 yards. Aron Cruickshank will be the main kick returner this year. The explosive receiver had 26 returns for 533 yards, an average of 20.5 yards per return.
The kicking position is a big question mark for the Badgers. We may find that Larsh will be the Badger kicker for the next few years, or they may be looking for a replacement sooner rather than later.
South Florida
For the Bulls, junior Coby Weiss will be the placekicker. Last season, he went 35 of 39 on extra points and 15 of 18 on field goals. He went 0 for 2 on kicks between 40-49 yards and did not attempt a kick past 50 yards. Junior Trent Schneider will be the punter for South Florida.
Johnny Ford will also be the punt returner in addition to the backup running back. Last season, he saw some action returning both punt and kicks. Redshirt freshman Terrance Horne Jr. will handle the kick returning duties. Special teams and field position could play a crucial part in South Florida’s success tomorrow night.
Advantage: South Florida
