The Wisconsin basketball team finds themselves in the top 10 of the preseason AP Poll.

After last season, expectations for this Wisconsin basketball season are high. They finished as co-Big Ten Champions and earned the number one seed for the Big Ten Tournament. The Badgers were getting hot at the right time and rattled off eight wins to end the season, setting themselves up for a successful 2020 postseason.

Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA Tournament were canceled, ending the Wisconsin basketball season prematurely.

Now, the Badgers are back and ready for the 2020-21 season. They are returning most of their returning players. Brevin Pritzl is the only player not returning that got meaningful minutes last season. This Wisconsin basketball team has a total of seven seniors on the roster. There is plenty of depth and experience that should help carry them deep into the Big Ten and NCAA Tournament next spring.

They have also added some youth that will likely get a good amount of playing time this season. Jonathan Davis and Ben Carlson are a pair of freshmen who could very well get some playing time with this veteran group this year. They are a part of a solid recruiting class coming into Madison this year.

This is an extremely talented team, and the country is taking notice. Multiple Badgers are on award watch lists and Nate Reuvers made the Preseason All-Big Ten Team.

Now, the preseason AP Poll has been released. The Badgers will start the 2020-21 season as the seventh-ranked team in the country.

The Badgers are the second-highest ranked Big Ten team behind just Iowa, who has consensus First-Team All-American Luka Garza leading the way for the Hawkeyes. They also snuck ahead of the highly-touted Illinois Fighting Illini.

The Big Ten will is going to be stacked with talent this year. Wisconsin will be right in the mix and look to finish atop the Big Ten for the second consecutive season, and being number seven in the country is a nice place to start.
