Wisconsin basketball forward Nate Reuvers has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team.

A member of the Wisconsin basketball team has earned preseason recognition. Forward Nate Reuvers has been named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. He is the lone Wisconsin basketball player to be named to the team.

Iowa center Luka Garza and Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu were both unanimous selections.

There are players on eight teams from the Big Ten. Illinois and Iowa have two members each. Meanwhile, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, and Wisconsin all have one.

Reuvers was named to the Karl Malone Award Watch List just last week.

The senior forward for the Wisconsin basketball team will be an important piece for their success this season. The Badgers are consistently included in the top 10 preseason rankings by various websites and experts.

Reuvers is a huge presence for the Badgers on both sides of the ball. On defense, he and Micah Potter will be asked to lock down the inside and force opponents to take some tough shots down low or kick it out for a lower percentage shot. He averaged a career-high 1.9 blocks per game last season and just 3.1 fouls per game. He has the ability to stonewall defenders in the paint without fouling them. That is something the Badgers are going to need this year, especially in the Big Ten, where Iowa Center Luke Garza does a lot of his damage.

On offense, he will look to add even more production. He 13.1 points per game, which was the most on the team. I think that number could definitely go up this year. He shot just 34% from three last year. The year before he was at 38%. Granted, he took more threes last season. He shot about 2.9 three-point shots per game last year, hitting 1.0 per game. With sharpshooter Brevin Pritzl gone, Reuvers may be taking more threes this year as well.

Overall, this is a very talented Wisconsin basketball team. Reuvers is getting some well-deserved recognition, but this team is very talented at all positions and they will spread the wealth, which is why I think there weren’t more Badgers on the Preseason All-Big Ten Team.
