Wisconsin basketball will play UW-Green Bay as a part of their non-conference schedule.

The Wisconsin basketball team will hopefully announce their full schedule soon. But until then, we are left to piece together their schedule little by little until we can get a clearer picture. We already know that the Badgers will play Louisville in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in December.

Marquette also announced part of their schedule in December, which included Wisconsin.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein announced that the Badgers would be hosting Northern Iowa as well.

Now, we know the fourth opponent for the Wisconsin basketball team. They will host UW-Green Bay at the Kohl Center on December 1, 2020. The announcement was made via Green Bay’s Twitter account.

Something to notice is that the Phoenix plays Minnesota before the Badgers, so we will have a measuring stick to compare the Badgers with the Gophers.

What’s cool about the Badgers hosting Green Bay this season, is that the Phoenix hired Will Ryan, Boy Ryan’s son, as the head coach for the Green Bay men’s basketball team. It will hopefully be a quality opponent for the Badgers to play before they start their difficult conference schedule.

Last season, the Badgers defeated Green Bay in Madison by a score of 88-70. Nate Reuvers led all scorers with 19 points. Brad Davison added on 15 points and Kobe King and Alleem Ford each contributed 12 points.

Overall, the history of this in-state ‘rivalry’ has been short and very one-sided. It really isn’t much of a rivalry at all, other than the fact that it is two in-state teams playing each other.

The Green Bay-Wisconsin basketball series goes back to the 2009 season when Wisconsin went to the Resch Center in Green Bay and lost 84-88 in overtime. Since then, the Badgers have won each of the last nine games, giving them a 9-1 record all-time against the Phoenix.
