Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst joined the Jim Rome Show.

The Wisconsin football team is sitting at 2-0 this season and is ranked 10th in the country despite missing two games. The Badgers are currently second in the Big Ten West behind the 19th ranked Northwestern Wildcats, who are 4-0. The Badgers and Wildcats will face off this weekend for the division lead.

Even though the Wisconsin football team has played just two games, they are still getting respect from all around the country. Quarterback Graham Mertz is a big reason why. Even though he is a redshirt freshman and made his first two collegiate starts this year, he has looked like the best quarterback in the conference outside of Ohio State quarterback, Justin Fields, who will be a high draft pick in the next NFL Draft.

The Jim Rome Show, on CBS Sports, had Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst on to talk about Graham Mertz. Chryst talks about how Mertz handled his first starts, his return from his positive covid test, and more.

Mertz will be a big reason for Wisconsin’s success this year. He came into the program as the highest-rated quarterback out of high school in Wisconsin football history. With the way he has looked in two games, regardless of who the opponents were, there is plenty of reason for optimism about this program.

They have a top defense under Jim Leonhard yet again, and likely will while Leonard is around. They have their best recruiting class ever coming in 2021 and have a chance to add some more big pieces from the 2022 class.

With Graham Mertz at the helm, the Wisconsin football program could start getting more national recognition that it hasn’t necessarily received in the past.

The future is bright for this program, especially with Paul Chryst and Graham Mertz leading the way.
