The Wisconsin basketball team rolls through the visiting Cardinals to go to 6-1 on the season.

The Wisconsin basketball, team, with some fresh, new duds, pounded the short-handed Louisville Cardinals in their makeup game. With the win, the Big Ten officially defeated the ACC, 7-5, in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The big story of this game was how well the Badgers shot from three-point range. They came into this game shooting close to 40% from long range and that continued today. D’Mitrik Trice started the game 3-3 from three, and as a team, the Badgers hit 10 threes in the first half.

At the break, the Badgers were up comfortably on the Cardinals, 44-18.

The second half was more of the same. The Badgers outscored the Cardinals 41 to 30 in the second half, adding in six more three-pointers. The Badgers finished the game shooting at a 64% clip from beyond the arc, hitting 16-of-25 shots from deep.

Micah Potter paced Wisconsin with 20 points, but like every other game this season, the scoring was pretty evenly distributed. The Badgers had four players score in double digits: Potter (20), Aleem Ford (12), Trevor Anderson (11), and Brad Davison (10). They had three other players score seven or more points. Overall, ten players on the Wisconsin basketball team scored.

Freshman Jonathan Davis looked really good again. He is someone to be very excited about for this year and beyond. He was seemingly everywhere and making plays nonstop, including a really nice move and shot at the end of the first half.

Louisville wasn’t competitive at all in this game, and it’s pretty obvious why. They were missing a good chunk of players, including their leading scorer, Carlik Jones. Sophomore guard David Johnson led the Cardinals with 12 points.

With the win, the Badgers will move to 6-1 ahead of conference play. I know the Cardinals were short-handed, but this 37-point victory over a ranked opponent is a huge win. It should help the Badgers move up in the rankings this week and when the selection committee is seeding teams for the NCAA Tournament in March.

This win should give the Badgers plenty of confidence heading into conference play.

The Badgers will face Nebraska (4-3) on Tuesday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
