The Wisconsin football team came out of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl with a win, but will still leave Charlotte empty-handed.

The Wisconsin football team won the Duke’s Mayo Bowl over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Afterward, the players gathered in the locker room to celebrate. Quarterback Graham Mertz was dancing with the Mayo Bowl Trophy and dropped it, causing it to shatter all over the floor. In a pretty funny video, the players all dancing around Mertz just stop, in shock of what just happened.

It’s all good though, Mertz fixed it and the Wisconsin football team will still be bringing a trophy back to Madison.

In his post-game interview, Mertz made light of the situation and said he will never drop a trophy again.

The Wisconsin Badgers end their season with a 4-3 record. But with everything going on this year, ending such a tumultuous season with Paul Bunyan’s Axe and the Mayo Bowl Trophy (although in pieces) is nothing to scoff at. The Wisconsin football team will be back and better than ever next year. And adding their highest-ranked recruiting class in program history won’t hurt either.

Football season came and went too fast, but September 4, 2021, when the Badgers take on Penn State, will be here before you know it.
