The Wisconsin football team is considered by many to be Running Back University (RBU). But right now, the position is a little thin. After years of having bell-cow backs with Montee Ball, James White, Melvin Gordon, and Jonathan Taylor, there is some unknown at the position.

Sophomore back Jalen Berger is expected to be the main back, but what’s behind him is a bit of a question mark. There’s a lot of inexperience at the position as a whole, so some experience and depth is something the Badgers would probably welcome at the position.

This is where the transfer portal comes in.

Chez Mellusi, a running back in the transfer portal from Clemson, has been a name that has popped up frequently for the Badgers. He has even said that Wisconsin is his favorite right now.

According to Badger247’s Evan Flood, Mellusi will have a chance to see Madison next month, and apparently, the odds of him leaving committed to Wisconsin seem to be pretty good.

Flood also has his Crystal Ball Prediction set for the Badgers, as BadgerWire’s Ben Kenney pointed out.

Flood isn’t the only one who has confidence that Mellusi will eventually be a member of the Wisconsin football team. Mike Farrell from Rivals has a transfer rumor mill update about Mellusi and Wisconsin. He thinks it would be a surprise if he ended up playing anywhere other than with the Badgers.

Mellusi was a 4-star back coming out of high school. He was the 14th-ranked running back and an All-American who chose to go to Clemson over other big-time programs like Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Auburn, and more.

In his two seasons at Clemson, Mellusi has over 400 rushing yards and six total touchdowns.

The highly-touted running back out of high school with a lot of tread on his tires could be exactly what this Wisconsin football team needs. He and Berger could potentially create a deadly 1-2 punch for the Badgers for the next couple of years.
