Interview with Chucky Hepburn

Chucky Hepburn took the time to speak with Badger of Honor about his recruiting process, relationships with other recruits, what made him want to call Wisconsin home, and more.

Badger of Honor: What was it that sold you on Wisconsin basketball?

Hepburn: As soon as I stepped on campus right away I fell in love with it. The campus was so beautiful. And the authenticity of each Coach on the staff and everyone surrounding the program was something I didn’t find everywhere.

Badger of Honor: Do you communicate with other members of the ’21 class? What excites you about playing with that group?

Hepburn: Yes, in fact, I went up to South Dakota to go watch Matthew play at state. And Markus and I have been texting back and forth lately. Real excited to meet him for the first time. And of course, Chris. We’ve texted lately as well and I can’t wait to play with a big man that has a big motor like Chris. Something I’ve always wanted to play with.

Badger of Honor: You do a lot of things that make you a perfect fit for Coach Gard’s system, what do you think you will bring to Wisconsin that will make you unique?

Hepburn: Just the fact that I play hard. No matter if I’m having a bad offensive game or not, I’m always giving it 110% on defense, because I know that defense will lead to offense.

Badger of Honor: What are your personal goals/team goals while you’re at Wisconsin?

Hepburn: There are really no personal goals as of now, I just want to make sure my team connects with each other, plays hard, and of course wins a couple of Big 10 tournaments as well as national championships.

Badger of Honor: What are your greatest strengths right now?

Hepburn: My greatest strengths on the court right now are probably my court vision, feet on defense as well as hands.

Badger of Honor: Favorite Badger basketball player?

Hepburn: I grew up Watching Sam Dekker so him for sure.

Badger of Honor: Whose game do you think yours most closely resembles?

Hepburn: Right now, I could say I play like Sharife Cooper, because we both have very good court vision, but also when our teams need us to score, we can score at will.

Badger of Honor: When you’re not playing basketball, who is Chucky Hepburn?

Hepburn: I am just a person who loves to chill at home. I’m kind of a homebody, don’t really like to go out much unless it involves working out. I do a lot for the community, as much as I’m able to.
