The Wisconsin football team has recently been one of the hottest recruiting programs in the country, and they aren’t cooling off either.

There was definitely some frustration for Wisconsin football fans all spring. The Badgers headed into the summer with one committed player in Myles Burkett. However, since the dead period for recruiting ended and players are able to go on visits again, the Badgers are making up a ton of ground.

They’ve had multiple weekends loaded with some big-time talent from around the country, including four of the top players in the state of Wisconsin. Those visits have led to multiple commitments for Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin football coaching staff.

They’ve landed eight commitments in the past few weeks and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

While they’ve been racking up commitments, they are still looking for that first big fish to bite. There are four 4-star recruits in the state of Wisconsin that the Badgers are targeting and are seemingly in the lead for. Offensive linemen Joe Brunner, Carson Hinzman, and Billy Schrauth, along with defensive lineman Isaac Hamm make up a nice group of players that the Badgers and their fans would be ecstatic to have in Cardinal and White.

It’s no secret that those players are pretty close and it wouldn’t be a surprise if a few, if not all of them, choose the same team to play with each other. That alone gives Wisconsin a huge advantage because they are right in the thick of things for all of them.

A great example of this is Billy Schrauth’s case. It seemed like he was all but committed to Notre Dame, but his visit to Madison with the other recruits changed things. All of a sudden, reports came out that Wisconsin had made a huge move and the other players were a big reason why. I think the Badgers have a pretty decent shot at keeping all four of them together.

If the first domino falls and one of them commits to Wisconsin, we could see a chain reaction with those prospects, and everything could fall in line for the Badgers. Joe Brunner could be that first domino.

This is believed to be the commitment announcement for the top overall prospect in the state of Wisconsin.

He has visited Wisconsin, Ohio St., and Notre Dame, and his 247Sports Crystal Ball is in favor of the Badgers.  Should Brunner commit to Wisconsin, I don’t think it would be too long before players like Hinzman, Schrauth, and Hamm make their decisions.

Currently, the Badgers are the 43rd ranked team in the recruiting class rankings on 247Sports. If the Badgers were to land Brunner, that alone would push them up to 32, one spot ahead of Northwestern. If they land Hinzman, Schrauth, and Hamm, that would propel the Badgers all the way to 13th, ahead of teams like Alabama, USC, Clemson, and Florida.

Granted, these rankings will continue to change as those blue-chip programs add more talent, but even though the Badgers are expected to have a smaller class in 2022, they would still have a ton of talent coming in if things continue to trend in Badgers’ favor.

Buckle up, Badgers fans, because things are going to start getting crazy.
