The Wisconsin basketball team will be playing a relatively unknown opponent in the 2021 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Badgers will be on the road this year, traveling to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge has been played between the two conferences since 1999. The ACC currently has an advantage over the Big Ten, winning 138 games and losing 113. The Big Ten, however, has been more dominant in the past 10 years. They have won or tied with the ACC in eight of the past 10 years. The ACC has won the challenge just twice, in 2016 and 2017.

Wisconsin’s performance in the challenge has been one of the best in the conference. In the 22 years of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, the Wisconsin basketball team is 11-11. Their 11 wins are tied for the most in the Big Ten, but only Penn St. and Purdue have a winning record in the challenge (11-9).

Georgia Tech is 9-11 all-time in the challenge and has won their last two games in the challenge, defeating Nebraska each of the last two years.

Historically, the Badgers and Yellow Jackets have met just twice. Their last meeting took place in 2001 as a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, where Georgia Tech defeated Wisconsin by one point.

Before that, the Badgers and Yellow Jackets met all the way back in 1963 when the Badgers won 104-84.

Last season, the Yellow Jackets finished fourth in the ACC with a 17-9 record and won the ACC Tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They got a tough first-round opponent, drawing Loyola-Chicago, who ended up moving on to the Sweet Sixteen.
