Fall camp for the Wisconsin football team started up on Friday and kickoff is less than 30 days away. The expectations for the Badgers are high followings a down season where they finished the regular season with just a 3-3 record. They did go on to win the Duke’s May Bowl over Wake Forest, but overall, it felt like an underwhelming season for a Wisconsin football team.

This year, it’s Big Ten Championship or bust for Badger fans. They will have a top defense again, Graham Mertz is getting a full offseason of being QB1, Jalen Berger should take a big step in his play and they are returning all of their big offensive weapons as well.

Long story short, expectations are high for the Wisconsin football team in 2021.

WynnBET sportsbook has odds on the Wisconsin Badgers in four categories: National Championship, Big Ten Championship, regular season total, and Heisman odds.

National Championship odds

+ 5000

The Badgers are way lower on this list than I thought they would be. They have the same odds as Miami (FL), Notre Dame, and Oregon. So the company they are keeping isn’t bad. That’s not what’s puzzling. What’s confusing is who is ahead of them.

At the top are the obvious teams: Alabama (+240), Clemson (+325), and Ohio St. (+500). Georgia (+600) and Oklahoma (+700) round out the top five teams.

Then comes Iowa St., Florida, Louisville, LSU, Texas A&M, Appalachian St., Cal, Colorado St., Kansas (huh?) and Eastern Michigan are all ahead of Wisconsin.

Big Ten Conference Winner odds

+ 600

This is an area where the Badgers have more favorable odds. It’s nothing new or surprising, but the Wisconsin football team is favored to win the Big Ten West and also has the second-best odds to win the conference championship. The Badgers’ current odds are +600, behind only Ohio St., who is at -215.

Iowa is the next closest Big Ten West team, with odds at +1100. Minnesota comes in third at +2200.

Regular Season Win Total

O/U 9.5 wins

I think an over/under win total of 9.5 games is appropriate for this Wisconsin football team.

I think the Badgers will have a good shot at hitting the over, especially considering they are favored to win every one of their games. Outside of the Penn St. game, I think the Badgers also have a pretty favorable conference schedule.

I can see the Notre Dame game being a tough matchup, and the Army game being a possible trap game. I’d love to say I think the Badgers are going to run the table and face off against Ohio St. as an undefeated team in the Big Ten Championship, but I don’t know how likely that is.

Still, I think the Badgers clear the over on the 9.5 games assuming there aren’t injuries to any key players.

Heisman odds

Just for fun, let’s talk some Heisman odds. Shockingly (not really), the Badgers don’t have a player near the top of the Heisman odds.

Sitting at the top is Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler with +550. Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei at +700 second and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is third with odds at +850.

The first Badger to appear on the list is Graham Mertz, with odds at +7500. There wasn’t another Badger on the list.

Something fun to note: former Wisconsin football quarterback Jack Coan is ahead of Mertz on the list with odds at +5000.

It’s shaping up to be a positive season for the Badgers. Fans are excited and apparently, so is Vegas.

We are less than a month away, and there is going to be a lot more Wisconsin football content on Badger of Honor, so keep following along!
