Wisconsin Football: Game-by-game predictions for the 2021 season
Week 2 – Wisconsin vs. Eastern Michigan
The first non-conference game for the Badgers should be a cupcake. Eastern Michigan is coming off of a 2-4 season where they finished second-to-last in the Mid-American conference last year.
This should be a stat-stuffing game for the starters and they should all be out by the 3rd quarter, giving some of the backups some time on the field as well. This game should be a nice tuneup game before they have a weekend off to get healthy before their big matchup with Notre Dame in Week 4.
Prediction: Wisconsin 38 – Eastern Michigan 7
Record: 2-0
Week 3 – Bye
Week 4 – Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame
This is a game a lot of Wisconsin football fans have circled on their calendars. Notre Dame played in the College Football Playoff last season and they are being led by former Wisconsin quarterback, Jack Coan.
This is a big game for the Badgers’ playoff resume. A win over the Fighting Irish will surely vault them up the standings and be a signature win this season.
It certainly won’t be easy, though. This game is going to be a neutral site game and will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago, so no home crowd to bring some energy for the Badgers. If there is a game, the Badgers lose this season, this is it.
This is a potential top-10 matchup and will draw a lot of eyes from around the country. This is the time for Wisconsin to show the nation that they are making the next step and a contender to get into the College Football Playoff.
Assuming there aren’t any major injuries, I think Wisconsin can win this game. They are loaded with talent on defense and have some good experience on offense with a stout offensive line. It’s not my bias showing, it’s my confidence. Wisconsin pulls out the huge win against a top-10 opponent.
Prediction: Wisconsin 27 – Notre Dame 24
Record: 3-0
Week 5 – Wisconsin vs. Michigan
By the time we roll around to Week 5, things can change very quickly. Michigan is starting the season unranked, but could very well be undefeated and coming to Madison with some confidence heading into this game. If they are like Michigan teams the past two seasons, they could also come into this game 2-2. We’ll see.
Either way, the game will be played at Camp Randall, where Wisconsin is very tough to beat. The last time Michigan came to town, they were ranked 14th and left with a 35-14 defeat to the Badgers. Last season, Wisconsin went to the Big House and put a whooping on the Wolverines, defeating them 49-11.
I think Wisconsin is going to extend their current two-game winning streak to three games, mostly because I think the Badgers’ defense is going to shut Michigan’s offense down. The offense will be able to score enough for the Badgers to win comfortably.
