Wisconsin Football: Preseason bowl game predictions

The expectations for the Wisconsin football team are high entering the 2021 season. They are favorites to win the Big Ten West division and compete for the Big Ten Championship as well.

With a successful season comes a birth to a bowl game. The Wisconsin football team has a current streak of 19 consecutive bowl game appearances. The Badgers will be gunning for 20-straight this season.

Media outlets from all over the internet have released their preseason bowl game predictions, and most of them expect Wisconsin to have a very successful year. Right now, here are the bowl game predictions for the Badgers.

CBS Sports

Rose Bowl vs. Oregon – Jan. 1, 2022

CBS Sports Bowl Expert Jerry Palm projects the Wisconsin football team will have a rematch in the same bowl game from the 2019-20 season. The Badgers will have a second chance to knock off the Oregon Ducks after a close loss in Pasadena two seasons ago.

ESPN

Mark Schlabach: Chick-fil-A Bowl vs. Notre Dame – Dec. 30, 2021

Kyle Bonagura: Rose Bowl vs. Oregon – Jan. 1, 2022

ESPN had two experts make predictions for Wisconsin. Mark Schlabach thinks the Badgers will have a rematch with Notre Dame at the end of the season. I’m not sure about this one because it isn’t very often you have teams play in a bowl game that has already played earlier in the season.

Kyle Bonagura has the Badgers in the Rose Bowl against Oregon as well. This isn’t the last time you will see this prediction.

College Football News continues the trend of Wisconsin facing off against Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

Erick Smith of USA Today also thinks the Badgers will face off with the Ducks in Pasadena.

Steven Lassan of Athalon Sports joins in with just about everyone else. Badgers and Ducks in the Rose Bowl.

Rose Bowl vs. USC – Jan. 1, 2022

Bill Bender of Sporting News also thinks the Badgers will be playing in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day but facing off against a different PAC-12 opponent.

ProFootball Network

Citrus Bowl vs. Ole Miss – Jan. 1, 2022

Oliver Hodgkinson of ProFootball Network has the Wisconsin football team playing in a New Years’ bowl game, but not the Rose Bowl. He has them facing off with Ole Miss in what would be an interesting matchup. The Ole Miss and Wisconsin football teams have never played each other.

There is a lot of optimism for this Wisconsin football team. A New Years’ bowl game is always a sign of a successful season, but I’m sure this team is ready to take that next step and be in the final four to play for a national championship.
