The Wisconsin football team is back in action in Week 8 when they travel to West Lafayette to take on the 25th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers. The Boilermakers did the Badgers a huge favor by defeating Iowa last weekend, giving the Badgers control of their own destiny.

Before the Badgers can think about that, however, they will have to focus on the Boilermakers who are flying high after their big win over Iowa. The Badgers are 0-3 against ranked opponents and 3-0 against unranked opponents. This matchup gives them a chance to break that streak and continue to turn this season around.

Wisconsin vs. Purdue odds for Week 8:

It’s early in the week, but the Badgers are currently 3-point favorites, despite being on the road and not being ranked, according to the early odds from WynnBET.

Like most of the Badger football games this year, the over/under has been set pretty low. For the Wisconsin-Purdue matchup, the over/under is set at just 40 points.

The moneyline for the game is in favor of Wisconsin at -165.

Wisconsin Injury Report vs. Purdue for Week 8:

There are a lot of names on the preliminary injury report for Week 8.

Questionable: OT Logan Bruss, TE Clay Cundiff, ILB Mike Maskalunas, OLB Spencer Lytle

Out: ILB Jordan Tuner, OLB Aaron Witt, TE Jack Eschenbach

Out for the season: CB Al Ashford, TE Cole Dakovich, LS Duncan McKinley, RB Isaac Guerendo, Deron Harrell.

Wisconsin vs. Purdue Prediction for Week 8:

Playing in West Lafayette is never easy. I’m honestly not sure why the Badgers are even favored in this game. Army is no slouch, but the offense, and the passing game in particular, still looks so stagnant. You can bet the Boilermakers, who just took down #2 Iowa last weekend on the road, is going to stack the box against the Badgers and force Mertz to beat them. Even then, they’ll have to deal with George Karaliftis, who was a menace all game for the Hawkeyes last week.

I love the Badgers and I think they are improving, but I don’t have much confidence that the Badgers win this weekend, let alone cover the 3-point spread.

My predictions this week would be to take Purdue spread (+3), the Purdue moneyline (+130; bet $100 to make $130), and I’d take the under of 40 points. I think like most games, the Badgers are going to make it hard for the Boilermakers to score, but their offense will struggle as well.

Wisconsin’s next game and schedule:

After the Badgers take on Purdue, they will have a big test ahead of them in Week 9 when they take on the division-leading Iowa Hawkeyes. If the Badgers can win this weekend and take down the Hawkeyes at home, the path to the Big Ten Championship Game is a lot clearer.
