The 2-0 Wisconsin basketball team will take on the Providence Friars tonight as a part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, which is an annual series between the Big East and Big Ten Conferences early in the basketball season.

The Badgers are coming off an impressive defensive effort, holding the Green Bay Phoenix to just 34 total points on 24% shooting. The Badgers now have wins over St. Francis and Green Bay, with an average winning margin of 30.5 points per game.

Their game tonight, however, will not be as easy as their last two.

Wisconsin vs Providence Odds: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under

According to WynnBET, the point spread for the game tonight favors the Badgers. Wisconsin is currently a 5.5-point favorite to win tonight. The odds that the Badgers cover the 5.5-point spread are set at -112 (bet $112 to win $100).

The moneyline favors the Badgers to win outright, regardless of the score, with odds at -250 (bet $250 to win $100).

The over/under for the game is set at 130.5 points. The odds favor the under right now, which are set at -116 whereas the odds for the over are set at -108.

Wisconsin vs Providence Prediction Tonight

Providence comes to Madison tonight with a 2-0 record as well, with wins over Fairfield and Sacred Heart.

The Badgers have had a big size advantage over their last two opponents. That won’t necessarily be the case tonight. The Friars have some height, including Nate Watson, their 6’10” center and leading scorer. Watson is averaging 18 points per game, including a 22-point effort in their win over Fairfield.

Luckily for the Badgers, they have a pair of 7-footers in Steven Crowl and Chris Vogt, who have been solid defensive presences in the paint.

In fact, the Badgers have been solid on defense all over the court this year. Freshman point guard Chucky Hepburn has been very good defensively on the perimeter for Wisconsin. And that’s without even mentioning Brad Davison and Tyler Wahl.

I’m looking for a true Jonathan Davis breakout game on offense. He’s averaging 15 points per game so far, but on just 35.5% shooting. I think as the season goes on, he’ll start heating up. Tonight could be a night where he takes over and puts up 20+ points.

I think this is going to be a good game to show where the Badgers really are as a team right now. They looked really good in their first two games, but against some low competition. They are supposed to dominate those games. This game will be a good indicator of how good this team really is this year.

Prediction time. I think the Badgers being at home is a big advantage. Assuming there are a lot of fans in the stands, the Kohl Center is a very tough place to play. I like this Wisconsin team so far. I have the Badgers winning this one, and covering the spread, and hitting the under.
