Wisconsin Game Today: Wisconsin vs Marquette, Predictions, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for Basketball Game Dec. 4
The Wisconsin-Marquette rivalry is renewed today when the Golden Eagles come to the Kohl Center to take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
For the Badgers, this will be their final game before they get into their conference schedule.
The Golden Eagles are enjoying a nice start to their season. They are 7-1 with some quality wins under their belts, including a victory over #10 Illinois a couple of weeks ago. Their lone loss was to #22 St. Bonaventure in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic Championship Game.
It should be a fun game today at the Kohl Center.
Wisconsin vs Marquette Odds: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under
According to the latest odds from WynnBET, the Badgers are considered 5.5-point favorites over Marquette. The odds that the Badgers cover the spread are set at -116 (bet $116 to win $100). The odds for Marquette (+5.5) to cover the spread are -108 (bet $108 to win $100).
The moneyline for this game favors the Badgers as well. The odds that they win the game outright, regardless of score, are set at -260 (bet $260 to win $100). Marquette’s odds, on the other hand, are set at +200 (bet $100 to win $200).
The over/under for the game is set at 138 points, which is pretty high for the Wisconsin game. However, with Marquette’s pace of play, it isn’t a surprise that the over/under would go up a bit. The odds that the over hits are set at -116 while the under is set at -108.
Wisconsin vs Marquette Prediction Today
As usual, these two teams have very different playing styles. Wisconsin will slow the game down and take care of the ball, working for a good shot. Marquette likes to run and gun. They are averaging about 76 points per game and giving up 68 points per game. Currently, the Badgers are scoring just 68 points per game but giving up just 57 points per game.
The Badgers currently rank 325th out of 368 teams in the NCAA with 66.6 possessions per game. Marquette, on the other hand, is 34th in the country with 76.3 possessions per game. That’s almost 10 more possessions per game more than the Badgers.
This is a relatively unknown opponent for the Badgers. When Shaka Smart took over, there was a lot of turnover in the Marquette program this offseason. He had multiple players transfer in, including a player the Badgers know well, former Maryland guard Darryl Morsell. He is the second-leading scorer on Marquette behind freshman forward Justin Lewis, who is averaging 16.1 points per game, but 19 per game on the road.
Prediction time.
Like most years, this game is probably going to come down to who can force their style of play on the other opponent. If the Golden Eagles can speed this young Wisconsin team up, the Badgers may be on upset alert.
However, with Wisconsin being at home, the way they are playing defense right now, and the way they are taking care of the ball, I think the game is going to be in Wisconsin’s favor. If Marquette can’t get points off turnovers and get their offense moving, the Badgers should be able to control this game.
At the end of the game, I think Wisconsin’s defense keeps them in the game again and they muster just enough offense to beat their in-state rivals, giving them a 7-1 record heading into their conference opener against Indiana.
I’m iffy on the spread. I think 5.5 points will be a lot to cover today. If I were betting on this game, I’d take Wisconsin on the money line, Marquette against the spread, and I would probably take the under too, especially with how Wisconsin’s offense looked against Georgia Tech. With that said, I still think the Badgers win another close game, this time against their in-state rivals.
