The Wisconsin Badgers are back in action tonight after their big win over Marquette on Saturday. With their win, the Badgers are now 7-1 on the season and moved up a spot to #22 in the latest AP Poll released on Monday.

They will host the Indiana Hoosiers (7-1) tonight at the Kohl Center. The Kohl Center has been tough on the Hoosiers in the matchup between these two teams. In fact, Indiana hasn’t won in Madison since 1998.

The Badgers will look to continue that streak tonight.

The moneyline for this game favors the Badgers to win the game outright, regardless of points tonight. The odds for the Badgers are set at -180 (bet $180 to win $100). The odds for Indiana to win outright tonight are set at +140 (Bet $100 to win $140).

Wisconsin vs Indiana Prediction Today

Indiana comes into this matchup with a conference win under their belt already. They recently defeated Nebraska (5-4) 68-55 on Saturday.

Like Marquette, Indiana is a fast-paced offense. The Hoosiers are 16th in the country with 77.2 possessions per game. The Badgers, on the other hand, are 295th, with just 67.9 possessions per game. And like the Marquette game, I think whoever controls the tempo of the game will be the team in the best position to win this game.

The big guys down low are going to have their hands full this game as well. The Hoosiers have Trayce Jackson-Davis, who is widely considered as one of the top forwards in the Big Ten and will likely be a first-round pick in the next NBA Draft. He is averaging 21.0 points per game. He can light it up. Last year, he dropped 23 points on the Badgers.

The Hoosiers also have Race Thompson down low, who can rebound with the best of them. He’s averaging 6.9 defensive rebounds per game, and 2.0 offensive rebounds per game. The Badgers are going to have to focus on boxing Thompson out and keeping him off the glass. Last year, Thompson got in foul trouble early, so the Badgers were able to neutral him pretty well on their way to an 80-73 victory.

Prediction time.

I love this Wisconsin defense. I think Crowl and Vogt will be a good pair down low to pair on Thompson. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Wahl start out on Jackson-Davis. I have complete faith in the Wisconsin backcourt as well, locking down their guards. Again, being at home is a big advantage. I doubt the crowd will be as large or rowdy as they were Saturday against Marquette, but home court is still home court.

I expect Wisconsin to control the pace of the game and work for good shots. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was another close game wire-to-wire. These two teams have very similar offensive efficiency as well. The Badgers are points per possession are 1.040 (99th in the country), while the Hoosiers are 1.041 (98th).

But with Wisconsin’s ability to close games out by playing solid defense, not turning the ball over, and hitting free throws, I think the Badgers pull this one out in the end and cover the spread late.

I’d take the spread and the over.
