Urban Meyer should not even an option for Wisconsin football
I know some Wisconsin football fans will look at this article and say ‘no duh, the Badgers wouldn’t want anything to do with Urban Meyer.’
I agree.
But I feel like there are some Wisconsin football fans out there that want Paul Chryst and the Badgers to make that ‘next step’ to be contenders for the College Football Playoff that they want a new offensive coordinator, as many recruiting staff members as Michigan State and anything else they can do to bring in 5-stars galore so they will be a top-10 ranked class when it’s all said and done.
Some Badger fans might even be bold enough to forget morals and standards and make a deal with the devil by hiring Urban Meyer in some capacity so they can be considered contenders.
I’m here to tell you, that the Badgers will100% and unequivocally not hire Urban Meyer.
Urban Meyer is the type of coach that could very well bring success to your program on the field and make them contenders. But at the same time, he will also bring some sideshow or scandal with him. It’s happened everywhere he’s been.
From the Florida Gators to the Ohio State Buckeyes to the Jacksonville Jaguars, problems and scandal have followed Meyer.
On SportsCenter, Monday Night Football commentator and former NFL player, Louis Riddick, was very blunt about his thoughts on Meyer. He didn’t care what ended up happening to Meyer or what he would be doing next. But if he did somehow get a job back at a college team, he would not want his kid playing for him.
I think that’s a similar sentiment that a lot of parents would have regarding Meyer. He is a gifted recruiter and has a knack for getting top-rated talent to commit to his school, even with the negativity around him.
Now, with all of the new things coming about like belittling his assistant coaches, kicking a player, not flying home with his team, having a girl dancing on him at a bar, and more, I just don’t see how anyone, let alone the Wisconsin football program would hire Urban Meyer.
I don’t think recruits would even want to play for a person like that either.
So before you even think about it, the answer is no. I don’t care how much he would help this program win, the Wisconsin football team should not, and will not even think about considering giving Meyer a position at any level within the program, even if doing so gave them a chance at more success on the field.
This program and university should want nothing to do with that garbage.
