A couple of weeks ago, the Wisconsin basketball team found themselves in the AP Poll’s Top 25, somewhere a lot of Wisconsin fans, including myself, didn’t think this team would be this season. Then a loss to Ohio State in Columbus knocked the Badgers back out of the Top 25, although just to number 26.

The Badgers played just one game last week, a close victory over Nicholls without the help of Johnny Davis.

It wasn’t a pretty victory, but the youthful Wisconsin basketball team came back and beat the Colonels at home in their only game of the week. It must have been enough to keep the voters interested in the team because this week they moved back into the AP Top 25 for Week 7 and are at #24 heading into this week.

Looking at the poll, the Badgers are still sitting pretty well. Their lone two losses came to Providence and Ohio State, who sit ahead of the Badgers in the poll at #22 and #14, respectively.

The Badgers received a total of 182 points. Villanova, who sits just ahead of Wisconsin at 23, has 222 points while Texas Tech at #25 received 86 points. So the Wisconsin basketball team is pretty solid at #24.

They will have a chance to improve their record and their standing in the poll this week when they play Morgan State on Wednesday at 6:00 PM on the Big Ten Network. The Morgan State Bears are 4-7 on the season and 0-6 on the road.

Morgan State is not the team Nicholls is, so with Johnny Davis (hopefully) returning and playing at home, the Badgers should have no problem moving past the Bears and improving their record to 10-2 on the season.

Morgan State and Illinois State (December 29) are the last two nonconference games the Badgers will play this season before playing conference games the rest of the season.
