The recruitment of Caleb Williams is one of the most polarizing topics in all of college football right now. The Wisconsin football team is one of the programs rumored to be one of his final choices. So why would he come to Wisconsin? Why would Wisconsin be the best fit for the former 5-star quarterback?

Well, there are a few reasons as to why Wisconsin would be great for the star-studded QB.

The running game

When you think of Wisconsin football, you don’t necessarily think about a mobile quarterback, which is what you would probably label Williams. But there are plenty of reasons for him to transfer to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin has an outstanding backfield of running backs Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi. Caleb Williams would add an even greater threat for defenders. If Williams were to have an off day the backfield would also be able to take the pressure off of him.

Opening up the playbook

Bobby Engram, who’s rumored to be the next OC for Badgers, will hopefully be able to open up the passing game. Williams will be able to use his arm strength and grow as a passer at Wisconsin as well. We all saw how dangerous Russel Wilson was as the quarterback at Wisconsin.

When you have a player that has a skillset like Williams, the passing game is likely to be more explosive than Wisconsin fans are used to.

Working with Paul Chryst

Paul Chryst was the offensive coordinator for the Badgers when Wilson came in and definitely helped Wilson blossom into the quarterback he’s become. Chryst has the knowledge and capability of working with quarterbacks and can help with the development of Williams and help him become an NFL-ready QB.

Coming to a great program with the ability to create an elite program

Wisconsin has been a contender in the Big Ten West year after year and is always finding itself either in Indianapolis or in the conversation. While the last few years haven’t been what we wanted, the Badgers are looking to come and take what is theirs. They may not be considered a blue-blood program right now, but Williams would have the chance to help take the Badgers to that elite level.

Recruiting

The Badgers have been very active in the transfer portal in recent years, and even this year as well adding five players so far. If Williams were to come to Wisconsin so would many other highly ranked recruits. Williams would prove Wisconsin as being able to be a top program and get people who’d want to play beside him and would help create a great recruiting culture at UW.
