The Wisconsin Badgers are back on the road to take on the #18 Illinois Fighting Illini tonight. The Fighting Illini are tied with the Badgers atop the Big Ten Conference with matching 8-2 records in the conference. Overall, Illinois has a 15-5 record heading into tonight’s matchup.

Illinois is coming off a pair of close wins over Michigan State and Northwestern. The win over Michigan State is particularly impressive because they were without both Andre Curbelo (health and safety protocols) and Kofi Cockburn (concussion).

Cockburn returned to action against Northwestern, leading the Illini to a 59-56 victory while posting 22 points and 9 rebounds.

This is going to be a big game for both the Illini and the Badgers, as the winner will be alone atop the Big Ten Conference.

Wisconsin vs Illinois Odds: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under

The Badgers are considered 7-point underdogs to the Illini in tonight’s game according to the latest odds from WynnBET. The odds that the Badgers cover the point spread are -110 (bet $110 to win $100). The odds that the Illini cover the spread are also set at -110.

The moneyline for this game favors the Illini to win outright, regardless of the score. The odds for the Badgers are +238 (bet $100 to win $238). The moneyline for Illinois is at -300 (bet $300 to win $100).

The over/under for this game is set at 139.5 points. The odds for both the over and the under are set at -110.

Wisconsin vs Illinois Prediction Tonight

The biggest matchup in this game is going to be Kofi Cockburn and whoever the Badgers can try to use against him in the post. Steven Crowl has really come on lately, especially on the offensive side. But Cockburn is going to be a tough defensive assignment for him. Maybe Chris Vogt will be able to hang with him for a while, but he doesn’t provide the offense that Crowl has been able to lately.

Another big matchup will be Andre Curbelo vs. Chucky Hepburn. With Curbelo coming back, he will create a whole other problem for the Badgers. Curbelo hasn’t played much this season due to injury and covid protocols, but when he has played, he has looked pretty good. He is able to create so much offense off the dribble. Whether it’s running a pick-and-roll or just penetrating and creating a shot for himself, Hepburn is going to have to play some terrific on-ball defense tonight.

Having said that, I’m not sure the Illini will have a great matchup for Johnny Davis and/or Tyler Wahl. In the past six games Wahl has played, he is averaging 15.0 points per game while shooting 58% from the floor. He has been playing at an extremely high level.

I think this is going to be a highly entertaining game to watch and will be must-see TV. Between dealing with Curbelo and Cockburn, and playing on the road, this is going to be a difficult game for the Badgers tonight.

I think 7 points is a lot for the Illini to cover tonight. I would take the Badgers +7 and probably the over, as I think this game could be a tight back-and-forth.

In the end, Illinois wins a close game.
