Wisconsin Football: Five Badgers selected in the 2022 NFL draft

No. 129: TE Jake Ferguson

On Day 3 of the NFL draft, the third Wisconsin Badger heard their name called when the Dallas Cowboys selected tight end, Jake Ferguson, with the No. 129 overall selection in the fourth round.

Ferguson was a four-year contributor for the Badgers registering an impressive 145 catches for 1,618 yards and 13 touchdowns during his career at UW.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end started 36 games for Wisconsin and was named First-team All-Big Ten after registering a team-high 46 catches during his senior campaign.

No. 206: DE Matt Henningsen

With the No. 206 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos selected Badgers defensive lineman Matt Henningsen.

The Menomonee Falls (Wisc.) native began his career as a walk-on, but would go on to appear in 42 games – 29 of which were starts.

The former Badgers defensive lineman put himself on the radar of NFL teams after earning a RAS score of 9.34, which scored him 98 out of 1,459 defensive tackles since 1987.

Henningsen finished his four-year career at UW having registered 92 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks.

No. 232: CB Faion Hicks

The last and final Badger taken in the 2022 NFL draft was Wisconsin cornerback Faion Hicks, who was selected No. 232 overall in the seventh round by the Denver Broncos.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound corner appeared in 44 games for the Badgers, starting 39 of them – while registering 108 tackles, 19 pass deflections, and one interception in his five years at UW.

Hicks improved his draft stock during Wisconsin’s pro day when he ran a 4.37 40-yard dash, which would have been good for the fifth-best among cornerbacks invited to the NFL combine.
