Where does Wisconsin basketball stand in recruiting
By Joey Lovell
Joining Yalden in next year’s incoming class is Nolan Winter, a 6’10 190 pound power forward from Lakeville North High School in Lakeville, Minnesota. He is currently ranked as the 41st forward in the country, but the second-best overall from the state of Minnesota.
If that Minnesota high school sounds familiar to you, it’s because it has become a veritable pipeline straight to Wisconsin basketball. Senior forward Tyler Wahl came from there, as well as former Badger Nate Reuvers.
Winter’s senior season is an impressive one. He is 10th in the state in 4A in scoring, averaging 23.4 points per game on a field goal percentage of 61.8%.
He surpassed 1,000 career points at the beginning of the month in a 32-point effort against the #8th-ranked rival, Lakeville South.
Perhaps he will be able to cure some of the Badgers’ woes on the glass, as he leads the state in 4A with 11.5 rebounds per game.
Unfortunately, he will not provide an instant fix at the foul line, as he is only 73 of 108 (67.6%) from the charity stripe.
His team, Lakeville North Panthers, is in the midst of a 21-2 season and currently ranked 2nd in the state.
Interestingly enough, one of his fellow Panther teammates, junior guard Jack Robinson, is also committed to Wisconsin in the class of 2024.
