It’s an action-packed weekend in the Wisconsin sporting world. So grab your nice hot cup of Joey and get caught up on the weekend events.

Wisconsin’s Men’s Hockey split a pair against #10 Penn State

The men’s regular hockey season came to a close this weekend on the road at Penn State. While they may not have had the amount of success that was hoped for, Wisconsin did have some memorable victories this season and continued that trait by splitting a pair of games with the Nittany Lions. They lost on Friday evening 6-1 but bounced back on Saturday afternoon to win 2-1.

In the first period, the Badgers sophomore defenseman Corson Ceulemans scored his 6th goal of the season, on a power play, with assists from Carson Bantle and Mathieu De St. Phalle.

Penn State evened the contest in the second period with a goal from Connor Mcmenamin.

Wisconsin’s junior forward De St. Phalle would break the deadlock, with an assist from Zach Urdahl, six minutes and 19 seconds into the third.

That would conclude the scoring as Wisconsin junior goaltender Kyle McClellan came up huge, stopping 22 Nittany Lions shots in the third only, on his way to tying his career-high in saves of 47.

The Badgers finished the regular season with an overall mark of 13-21-0 and a conference record of 6-18.

They travel to Ann Arbor next Friday for a best-of-three series against Michigan to open up the Big Ten tournament. Wisconsin’s record against the Wolverines this season is 1-3. The first game of the series is Friday at 6 p.m.
