There has been a lot of attention on Wisconsin Football recruiting in the past couple of weeks. Everything we’ve heard has been for their 2024 recruiting class. On Thursday, the Badgers received their first commitment from the class of 2025.
Landyn Locke, a quarterback, announced his commitment to the Badgers on Thursday. Locke is the younger brother of current Badgers QB Braedyn Locke.

Badgers head coach Luke Fickell continues to do wonders for the program’s recruiting, as he now builds on a solid 2024 class to date by getting a head start for 2025. The signing gave fans their first look at Luke Fickell’s new bat signal for 2025.
Although the head coach usually gets credit for recruiting, a huge part of Locke’s decision to commit was offensive coordinator Phil Longo. Longo had been recruiting Locke back to his time as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina last season. Longo continued to push for Locke after he arrived in Madison, and now Locke appears to be a future Badger.
The argument could be made that Longo has helped with the team’s recruiting just as much as Fickell. Look no further than when Fickell brought Longo onto his staff. As soon as Longo was brought onto the coaching staff, a flurry of commitments came in on the offensive side of the ball for the Badgers. Longo’s air raid offense instantly made Wisconsin an attractive place for any playmaker.
Longo’s pursuit of Locke and already having a brother on the roster make this signing seem perfect for the Badgers. Locke will join a crowded quarterback room at Wisconsin that has as much talent as there has been in Madison in a long time.
Exciting times are coming in Madison, with the 2024 class ranked inside the top 20 nationally, per 247 Sports. With more commits for the 2024 and 2025 classes on the way, Wisconsin Football has a chance to be in the best spot they’ve been in a while. As Fickell continues to impress on the recruiting trail, more excitement surrounds the program.
