It’s a fantastic time to be a Wisconsin Football fan with how they’ve recruited since Luke Fickell arrived. Fickell and his staff continued their tremendous job recruiting by earning another commitment from four-star running back Darrion Dupree. Dupree announced his commitment via Twitter on Friday. Dupree had offers from several major college programs.

Four-star running back Darrion Dupree commits to Wisconsin Football

Dupree has been the coaching staff’s top target for the 2024 class for a while, and now they officially have received a commitment from him. Per 247 Sports, Dupree is the No. 366 ranked player nationally, the No. 32 running back, and the No. 8 ranked player from Illinois in the 2024 class.

Dupree’s commitment puts him in line to be a big part of Wisconsin’s backfield instantly, with Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi likely moving on after the 2023 season. Dupree and fellow class of 2024 commit Gideon Ituka will have a chance to be Wisconsin’s next great running back duo. Dupree and Ituka have games that allow them to play off each other.

Dupree will provide the team with a dynamic running back in their offense. He excels at many things on the field, which includes pass catching. His ability to be a receiving threat out of the backfield will allow the Badgers to be more creative and open up their offense. Paired with Ituka, who will wear down opposing defenses with his physicality and large frame, the Badgers will have a duo that can wreak havoc in the Big Ten for the next few years.

The Badgers, as we all know, have a long history of producing elite running backs. Based on his versatility in the backfield and the quality of his coaching staff in Madison, Dupree could be next in line very well.

Dupree’s commitment helps the Badgers to continue their ascension in recruiting. After the news, Wisconsin has the 21st-ranked recruiting class in 2024, per 247 Sports. It’s incredible how well Fickell has done, considering where the program sat when Paul Chryst was fired in October. It seemed impossible that the program would sit as well as it is less than a year later.

It’ll be exciting to see how Dupree’s career pans out. Stay tuned for more Badgers news and analysis with the season coming up soon.
