Wisconsin drastically improved its chances of making the NCAA Tournament in one fell swoop by knocking off the top NET team, the Michigan Wolverines. Doing it in Ann Arbor was the cherry on top. A week ago, you couldn't find Wisconsin in tournament projections; they didn't look like a tournament team with zero quad-1 wins. However, beating Michigan changed that, and three different bracketologists agree.
Where they land in the tournament and what that looks like is all different, and clarity will come as the season progresses, but for now, let's look at where three major bracketologists have Wisconsin.
Busting Brackets - Last Four In - No. 11 Seed
Busting Brackets, a FanSided site, has Wisconsin as one of the final four teams in the field and projects it as a No. 11 Seed playing No. 6 Tennessee out of the West Region (San Jose). The downside of the projection is that Wisconsin would play in a play-in game against Baylor before facing Tennessee.
Joe Lunardi - Last Four Byes
Lunardi hasn't published his full bracket yet, but he has posted on X his projections. So, the seed isn't there yet for Wisconsin, but they are listed in the category of "Last Four Byes." This category for Lunardi means Wisconsin is safely in the field and doesn't have to play in any play-in games. That's an even better projection for many
T3 Bracketology - 9 or 10 Seed
T3 Bracketology, one of the top bracketologists, now lists Wisconsin as a "Bubble In" team. Which means they are not quite safe, but they are IN. The Badgers are also listed as a potential 9 or 10 seed in the tournament.
All this to say is that Wisconsin still has some work to do, but in one game, they went from having no bracketologists believe in them to all the big ones projecting them as a tournament team. More work is left, but things are trending well for the Badgers.
