3 winners and 1 loser from Wisconsin's dominant win over Eastern Michigan

The Wisconsin Badgers may have just stamped a little bit of hope back into its fanbase with a dominant victory of Eastern Michigan. After a very slow first quarter, Wisconsin absolutely piled it on for the remaining three quarters, securing a 54-10 victory – its largest margin of the season. 

Through this game, the Badgers were able to show many facets of their offense for the first time, showcasing a  balanced attack that Eastern Michigan just couldnt hang with. But, as always, there are winners and losers from the 44 point win, so lets take a look at both ends of the spectrum. 

Winners: 

Tyrell Henry 

Undoubtedly the best performance from Wisconsin’s win came from senior wideout Tyrell Henry. The 6-foot wide-out had one of, if not the single most productive single game performance in the history of the program for a receiver, finishing with a prgoram record 14 catches for 160 yards and touchdown. 

One of the biggest questions throughout all of camp was that of what receiver was going to take the reigns as a go-to guy. Through the first couple of weeks, we werent given an answer, as multiple guys stepped up and looked like they could be that guy. 

However, after back to back big time performances from Henry, including the historic day, it has become all the more clear that he will be the Badgers “guy” going forward.

The Passing Attack

Beyond Henry’s prowess, the rest of Wisconsin’s air attack too had itself one helluve a day. Quarerbac Colton Joseph had his best performance to date in a Badger uniform, completing 23 of his 33 passes for 362 yards and three touchdwons – along with one pick. It wasnt just force feeding the ball to Henry either, as nearly every Wisconsin wide out had a chance to eat in the big time win. 

Chris Brooks Jr. hauled in three catches for 91 yards and a score, Bowling Green transfer Jacob Harris snagged thre balls for a total of 89 yards, and overall the room had itself a heck of a day. Weather the Badgers can carry this momentum into conference play is the real question, and one that many fans are nervous to be answered. But for now this can absolutely be chalked up as a step in the right direction. 

The Defense 

One of the biggest questions in the Luke Fickell era has been that of why the defense could never seem to produce at a high level. From being soft up front, to not generating turnovers on the back end, fans were fed up with the lack of umph that the unit provided. 

That said, three turnovers including a strip six from Sebastain Cheeks was absoutley enough to put those thoughts to bed – at least for now. After a rough start, the unit really began to pick things up down teh stretch of the game, consistently making plays on the ball and making Eastern Michigan quarterback Noah Kim’s life a living hell. 

Overall, a very strong outing for a highly touted unit. 

Losers: 

The “Fire Fickell” Crowd 

In games like this, picking losers is hard to come by, as on face value, nothing really went wrong for the team. Because of that, the most obvius loser of the day is, in a way the fans. Spesifcially the crop that thinks there should be a change at head coach. 

Early on in this one, it seemed as if that crowd’s belif was being affirmed, as another slow start against an inferior opponent hinted at yet another disappointing game. However, after Wisconsin picked things up and began to assert its will, the ball really started to roll in the right direction, dispelling that sediment for the time being. 

Fickell will of course have to carry this momentum into the bigger games moving forward, but again, it seems as if things are moving in the right direction.
