Zane Rowe is one of the top defensive end players in all of the 2027 class, rated a 4-star recruit out of Denton, Texas. He holds 33 offers from all over the country, and plenty of the top recruiting programs are involved. Wisconsin has its name in the mix, and recently, Rivals posted a video of Rowe competing in a drill, which included two things that a Wisconsin fan would immediately notice.

The first is that Wisconsin is listed as one of the teams "in the mix," with Nebraska, Georgia, Texas, and SMU as the other schools listed. This alone should give a Wisconsin fan a second glance. However, the other part of the video that also should surprise: Rowe is working through a receivers drill as a tight end, and he's doing amazing.

Zane Rowe is only a sophomore in high school but is already 6'4 "and 235 pounds, and he's known as a multi-sport athlete. He also competes in basketball and track and field at Guyer High School, where he attends. He's most impressive as a football player, and even more specifically as a player who can rush the passer. That's where he projects at the college level, but his ability to be crisp with clean catches as a tight end should give college head coaches an extra glance.

Wisconsin is one of the last teams to engage in his recruitment. They offered him back in January, while other schools have been interested far longer. This is partially because Wisconsin isn't known to have made many inroads into Texas, but he's someone who has caught their eye, and now the Badgers have listed him as a priority in the 2027 recruiting class.

Rowe is nowhere near a decision, and he hasn't even set up visits as he's only a sophomore. However, his recruitment will take a big leap forward next season, and you can imagine visits will begin to be scheduled.
