The Wisconsin Badgers absolutely thrilled Badger fans at Kohl Center with their impressive Big 10 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes 116-85. It was a complete domination from the later part of the first half and through the second half. The Badgers seemingly could not miss, and it set records, wowed fans, and silenced critics. There were so many amazing Wisconsin stats from this game, like the 64.5% field goal percentage or the 67.7% from three, or even how they outrebounded Iowa 37-21.
Those aren't the stats that this article will highlight, nor even the obvious one of UW scoring 116 points, which is the most points ever in Kohl Center history. This was only four points shy of the school record of 120, which came back in 1967. Here are five other impressive stats you should know:
1. School record of three-pointers made
The Badgers were amazing from every level of the floor in their shooting performance, as mentioned above, and in the process, they set a school record for most three-pointers made in a game with 21. They went 21-31 from behind the arch. John Blackwell may make the press clippings with his six three-pointers, but Kamari McGee may even be more impressive with his 4-5 from beyond the arch.
2. Assist to Basket Ratio
This isn't an assist-to-turnover ratio, which was impressive on its own, with 26 assists to 13 turnovers. This assists to made basket ratio. 65% of their baskets came on assists. They had 26 assists and 40 made field goals. This is insanely impressive.
3. Most points scored in a Big 10 game.
Putting up 100 points is impressive over any D1 program, but to do it in the conference is almost unheard of in today's hoops. Wisconsin went well past 100 and landed at 116, which is tied for the most points scored in a conference game in all of the Big 10. It's the most by Wisconsin but ties to the conference one from 1995.
4. John Blackwell with a career night.
John Blackwell had a career-high 32 points. Iowa coach Fran had many great things to say about how Blackwell tore them apart. He compared him to many of the other great Wisconsin point guards.
5. No more than 2 shots missed by the Badgers in a row.
This one blew me away because it's one of those stats that's tough to wrap your brain around. The Wisconsin Badger never missed three shots in a row in this game. We've all watched big men miss three shots in a row while getting their own rebounds, but Wisconsin went the whole game without even missing three times on the same possession or consecutive possessions. This one came from Evan Flood:
