5 Wisconsin football players who could be leaving after the season

The Wisconsin Badgers' season is coming to a close, with only one game left. Sure, there's some far-fetched scenario that Wisconsin could play in a bowl game, but that's unlikely. As the season closes, there will be a lot of changes; there always are for every team now that the transfer portal is a reality. Wisconsin also has a lot of seniors and graduate students who will no longer be eligible.

Right now, there's none on the roster that could make an early jump to the NFL, so if any underclassmen do leave, it will be to the portal.

The list below is all speculation, but with some calculated guesses associated with it; hopefully, none of them leave, but these five make some sense.

1. OLB Tyreese Fearbry

Fearbry transferred in last season but has been fairly lackluster in production as a junior. He's only got seven tackles on the year. He also has two instances now where he's been flagged for not using his head, which grinds at any coach, but especially Luke Fickell, in a down season.

2. RB Darrion Dupree

Yes, Dupree is coming off the best game for any Wisconsin running back all season, but that only adds more value to this prediction. He's good, and he's proven he's good, and yet he seems to be buried on the depth chart behind Dillin Jones and Gideon Ituka, who are both younger than him. He may use his breakout performance to find a cleaner opportunity.

3. WR Trech Kekahuna

This one would be a blow to Wisconsin as he's one of the most explosive wide receivers on the roster. Yet, he tried to transfer last season; he was on the airplane, and Jeff Grimes talked him out of it. Did he get enough production this year to warrant his contentment to run it back? He has 22 receptions for 204 yards this season, which is actually second on the team. He also had 13 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown. Is that enough from Grimes and Fickell to prove that he should stay? Who knows.

4. LB Curtis Tackett

Tackett seems to have been surpassed on the depth chart by underclassmen. He's now even listed behind true freshman Cooper Catalano. Tackett only has 25 total tackles, which is about half of what Catalano has up to now. He will be a senior next season and may be looking for one last ride as the starting linebacker.

5. TE Tucker Ashcraft

In a similar vein, Ashcraft has disappeared down the depth chart. He was injured in fall camp and at various points throughout the season. Which is a big factor, but even when healthy, he has never really regained his spot and hasn't really contributed much beyond runblocking this season. A player who had 12 receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown last season was probably hoping his junior year would be bigger than it has been.
