Wisconsin taking Miami to court over Xavier Lucas' tampering continues to unfold with all sorts of twists and turns. Each day, as more reporters and people dig into the actual lawsuit, more nuggets about it all get exposed. This time, it's about who the actual whistleblower was for Miami's tampering. According to the lawsuit, as uncovered by Pete Nakos of On3.com, it was a family member of Lucas.

This twist, that one of his own family members told Wisconsin about the illegal visit, paints a weird light on the whole story. It is unexpected, but it also makes us understand how even more credible Wisconsin feels its case is against Miami.

According to the lawsuit the whistleblower to Miami's tampering was a family member of Xavier Lucas

As a recap of the story so far, Xavier Lucas finished his freshman season at Wisconsin and was considered one of the best returning players in the class. He signed a NIL and revenue-sharing deal with Wisconsin for his sophomore season. Sometime after that signing, Miami came a calling, and convinced him to come to the Canes with more money and a better offer. Wisconsin found out and, when Lucas tried to transfer, told him they would not enter his name in the portal. A standoff ensued, and Lucas eventually unenrolled from Wisconsin and enrolled at Miami, circumventing the transfer portal.

Wisconsin then threatened to bring everything to court, and the Big Ten offered their blessing. Things went quiet until just the other day, when the news broke that Wisconsin was bringing a lawsuit against Miami. Now, there have been a series of stories about the lawsuit and its ramifications, the biggest being the future of what is considered tampering and how the transfer portal works.

This lawsuit has a chance to reshape college athletics in many ways and may end up being the first of many such cases as tampering continues to be regulated or even unregulated. Stay tuned, you know more is coming.
