Former Badger star AJ Storr was a sensation at Wisconsin. He was one of the first clear examples of Greg Gard dipping into the transfer portal, finding some unheralded guy with the ability to take a giant leap, and then maximizing that player. Storr went from St. John's, where he averaged 8.8 points per game, and under Greg Gard he soared to 16.8. Storr then took that jump and got a pirate's ransom in the portal to go to Kansas.
Kansas wasn't great for Storr, and things fell apart for the guard; he ended up playing his last season at Ole Miss, hoping to regain what he had as a Badger. He came close, but it wasn't enough; he never had a season as he did at Wisconsin, and then his college career ended. Yet, it didn't. Today, Storr was granted an injunction against the NCAA to play next season. He now has one more chance to reclaim and surpass the Wisconsin high.

AJ Storr has been granted an injunction against the NCAA and can play next season

Storr, like many players, including Braeden Carrington, is asking for a fifth year of eligibility. The case is that going forward from 2026 on, players will get five years. However, the current players or last year's seniors won't be grandfathered in. These players are bringing a case against the NCAA to grant them a fifth year now. There are a bunch of them; Storr joined a case with Vanderbilt center Jalen Washington, and a judge has granted all of the plaintiffs in that case a chance to play.
This is good news for Braeden Carrington and Wisconsin (though that's a story for another time). Even while he still waits on his court case. For Storr, he will get a chance to play a final season. Storr then did the most obvious thing ever, one that anyone anywhere in the world could have predicted; he entered the transfer portal.
Instead of chasing down his final season at Ole Miss, where he almost reclaimed his former Wisconsin glory, he's going to look for one more school to complete a rare five-in-five at five different schools. From St. John's to Wisconsin to Kansas to Ole Miss to who knows where. Still hoping the next jump can surpass what Greg Gard was able to do for him.
Ole Miss was close; he averaged 15.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, compared to his Wisconsin stats of 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. His senior year was supposed to be the jump he needed to play in the NBA. He now gets one more shot at it, and it will be interesting to see where his final stop is. Is Wisconsin interested? That ship has sailed for both parties, but Wisconsin fans will stay interested in Storr as he's a great reminder of the magic that Gard can pull off via the transfer portal.
