Former Wisconsin offensive coordinator, Phil Longo, after being removed from his position at Wisconsin took the head coach job at Sam Houston State. A program coming off a 10-win season and looking to reach new heights. The problem is that Long crashed the program into the ground. The team went from being one of the better small-time programs to being one of the worst.
Longo hasn't won a game yet at Sam Houston, and to make matters worse, the attendance is tanking. Last year, on the third home game of the season, the Bearkats had 27,225; this season, on the same game (third home game), it was recorded as 4,657, which is over 20k less and a huge downward trend.
In fact, it hasn't been good all season. Their first home game, they were already in a 0-2 hole, and that game only drew around 6,000 fans. I think fans knew then that it was going to be a terrible season, and it's only getting worse.

It's hard to imagine Longo will continue to get a long leash, but Sam Houston can't afford to be hiring coaches every offseason. Yet, the most recent loss to UTEP shows that Longo can't find a win, even against teams that Sam Houston should beat.
Sam Houston is staring down the barrel of a zero-win season. Zero wins. That would be brutal and unacceptable, but similar to the Badgers, if they can't even beat teams like UTEP, it's going to be hard to find them in other conference games.
The Bearkats will see Louisiana Tech, Oregon State, Delaware, Middle Tennessee, and FIU to close the season. There's a chance they pull off a win in there, but the fans aren't sold and are no longer coming to games.
While it's nice to no longer have that at Wisconsin, the Badgers' head coach clearly can't find a win either.
