Badger fans outraged over ridiculous recruiting penalties lobbied at Wisconsin

The NCAA continues to show that it's a clown show.

The Wisconsin Badgers were slapped with recruiting violations today based on phone calls made to recruits before they were allowed. The frustrating reality is that the violations would no longer be against the rules. They were mostly made by staffers who are no longer at Wisconsin, and the violations were self-reported.

The NCAA then decided to make Wisconsin fall under a Level II violation, which is considered "significant." Fans took to social media in outrage over the NCAA's rule enforcement and even some about Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell and/or Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh.

The NCAA feeling a loss of power is coming in hot with strong penalties against Wisconsin

The vast majority of Wisconsin fans are calling the NCAA a joke or a clown show. With a loss of power slowly being pulled from the NCAA governing body, this feels like a grasp at power in an unnecessary way. If the violations were self-reported and done by staffers no longer at Wisconsin, it's fine to have some penalties, but to be considered a Level II violation is extreme.

The penalties came with a $25k fine, and both Fickell and Matt Mitchell will not be able to contact recruits between Sunday, June 15, and June 21. Since recruits will be on campus during that time, it will work as a true suspension for both of them.

While most fans took aim at the NCAA, some wanted to blame Fickell and McIntosh for allowing this to happen. A whole group of Wisconsin fans is always ready to point the finger at Fickell, which can be expected until winning comes back for the Badgers.
