Wisconsin volleyball landed one of the top prospects in the world on Thursday as Decelise Champion announced her commitment to the Badgers on social media.
Champion had narrowed her options down to Nebraska and the Badgers, and took visits with each over the past few weeks, but ultimately selected Wisconsin. She posted the news on Instagram saying, "I am SUPER excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Wisconsin...a B1G thank you to Coach Kelly, Coach Brittany and Coach Gary for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. GO BADGERS!"

Badgers set for years to come after securing top recruit of 2027
Champion, a 6-foot-3 opposite/outside hitter from Puerto Rico, was the youngest player ever to play for Puerto Rico's national team at just 14. Now at 15, she was still the youngest player in the FIVB World Championships this summer. She is regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2027 class, and now solidifies Wisconsin's future as a volleyball powerhouse.
Wisconsin already has plenty of young and upcoming talent on their roster, and now add arguably the best prospect of 2027. Kelly Sheffield and the Badgers boast the top overall class of 2026 as well according to PrepVolleyball.com's rankings.
The No. 9 ranked Badgers will welcome No. 23 UCLA and No. 25 USC this weekend to the Field House. They'll again be without star sophomore Charlie Fuerbringer as her timetable to return from a shoulder injury still isn't known.
