The Wisconsin Badgers and Luke Fickell have been on a recruiting hot streak in recent weeks, already grabbing 12 players in the 2027 recruiting class, eight of whom are in-state. Wisconsin is now on the verge of landing yet another high-end recruit, as four-star tackle Cameron Wagner is set to make his decision on May 11th.

Wagner currently has the Badgers, Notre Dame, Illinois and Oregon listed as his top four schools, meaning Wisconsin is in the midst of quite the star-studded recruiting battle. He would mark the fourth offensive lineman committed to Wisconsin in the ‘27 class and the second tackle, adding depth to an already stacked room.
Future Defining Talent
Wagner is very physically developed for a player his age, already being listed at 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 300 pounds. He uses that size to maul opposing defensive linemen at the high school level. Whether that size will translate to on-field dominance at the college level remains to be seen, but at worst, he has already proven himself to have an incredibly high floor.
Wagner’s crystal ball currently has him landing with the Oregon Ducks, but a lot can — and likely will — change between now and his commitment date. The Badgers have already built themselves a solid pitch to recruits, as loading up a recruiting class early on will only continue to attract more talent like Wagner.

If Wisconsin were able to land him, he likely would not see the field for a while, even competing for backup reps with fellow tackle commits Ethan McIntosh and Cole Reiter. However, if the Badgers develop all three of them well, they could be looking at a loaded tackle room for the future of the program.
The next step for Wisconsin recruiting is showcasing on-field success because, at the end of the day, winning is the biggest selling point. In the Fickell era, the Badgers have yet to assert themselves as a true powerhouse, but from the way things are looking this offseason, it seems as if this year could be the turning point toward a new era.
