The Wisconsin Badgers are set to host defensive lineman Bradley Weaver on Friday according to Pete Nakos. The Ohio transfer will have one year of eligibility remaining after helping to lead his team to a MAC Championship this season.

Weaver is coming off his best season with the Bobcats, tallying 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 50 pressures. The First Team All-MAC selection is one of the top five remaining defensive line transfers still in the portal according to 247Sports' rankings. Weaver, one of Ohio's best players, has 14.5 career sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss over the past four seasons.

Badgers looking to add another defensive lineman in Bradley Weaver

The Badgers have already added many transfers during this cycle and several defensive lineman including Corey Walker out of Western Michigan, Parker Peterson from Tulane and Mason Reiger from Louisville among others. Still, after losing James Thompson Jr. and Curt Neal in the transfer portal, Luke Fickell and company can use all the help they can get. Continuing the trend of going after smaller school talents, Fickell has made the defensive line a huge focus heading into 2025 after a very underwhelming performance from the group in 2024.

The Ohio native would be a huge boost to a group that really struggled to reach the quarterback in 2024. As a whole, the entire Badger defense only mustered 17 sacks last season and no one player had more than three, less than half of Weaver's total output. His 8.5 sacks were good for second in the MAC and top 25 in the entire country.

Wisconsin's 2024 transfer class currently ranks 10th in the country based on 247's team rankings. The addition of Weaver would provide much needed help to one of the Badgers' weakest position groups last season.
